Quote of the Week

The battle for self-discipline may leave you a bit bruised and battered but always a better person. Self-discipline is a rigorous process at best; too many of us want it to be effortless and painless. Should temporary setbacks afflict us, a very significant part of our struggle for self-discipline is the determination and the courage to try again.

Iffy, but I'll take it.

Well, it's been one full week since I started exercising again. I was able to go to the gym 4 times last week. I felt that I did a good job watching what I ate and keeping track of my calories until Saturday, when I kind of went off track. Sunday was no better, and Monday I was having some issues, and let's face it: I'm an emotional eater.

Today, my issues are under control, but I was running around all day, and so ate on the go and didn't make very good choices. But I did go to the gym and got a good 45 minute work out, so I feel like I'm getting back on track again.

I've learned that I need to take it a day at a time. A meal at a time, even. If I mess up at lunch, I can do better at dinner. It's definitely a learning process, and I have to teach my mind and body how to eat properly.

So, like I said, even though 1/2 a pound can really be iffy, I'll take it. It's a 1/2 step in the right direction. Right????
