Quote of the Week

The battle for self-discipline may leave you a bit bruised and battered but always a better person. Self-discipline is a rigorous process at best; too many of us want it to be effortless and painless. Should temporary setbacks afflict us, a very significant part of our struggle for self-discipline is the determination and the courage to try again.

Day 3 report

Well, day 3 has passed, and things are going ok.

Yesterday I stayed under my calories goal again  (yay!), but I only got a 35 min workout in. It's better than nothing, but I was hoping to do more. I think I'm going to start trying to do some home exercising in the mornings. I'm feeling more motivated to do it these days.

Today, unfortunately I went over my calories because I was home all day and started snacking. One good thing about keeping track of the calories, though, is that you see exactly how it all adds up little by little. I did get to go to the gym for a little over an hour, though, and alternated between elliptical and treadmill. I ran on the treadmill for about 7 minutes, but then had to go to a (brisk) walk because my knee was bothering me too much. I prefer the elliptical, but I know it's important to switch things up and not let my body get too comfortable doing one thing.

I also know that I need to do resistance (weight) training to help build up my muscle and improve my metabolism. So I'm hoping to start adding a little of that a few times a week.

So far, even though I haven't been perfect, I'm feeling good about what I'm doing and I'm motivated to keep going!! I'm only going to weigh myself once a week so that I don't get too anxious about numbers. :)
